Introduction to electric mountain biking for 8-12 year olds in Grand Bornand/Chinaillon

What is included in the price of the course (3 sessions of 2 hours: 150€)
- Supervision by a mountain bike instructor.
- Rental of a semi-rigid electric mountain bike for the 3 sessions (for children from 1m20 to 1m55)
- All the protection kit of the mountain biker (helmet and gloves yes, but also kneepads and elbow pads for more security)
- The first aid kit carried by the instructor.
- Mechanical assistance.
Option : What is included in the 4th half day (+1 session of 3h30 at 60€)
- Everything that was included in the basic course
- Gourmet picnic of the soil
- A treasure map in the form of a life-size treasure hunt
NB : Children are admitted from 8 years old, as long as the required height of 1m20 is reached and the group level is homogeneous. The price indicated includes a semi-rigid electric mountain bike for children from 1m20 to 1m54. Exception on request (up to 13 years old, extra charge for using an adult bike size S)

Program:
- 3 half-days of electric mountain biking (+1 optional)
- Starting point: Arav’e-Bike office in Chinaillon or Ludoparc in Grand Bornand Village
- Gentle initiation and confidence building through playful exercises
- Option: 1 longer session (3h30) at the end with an introduction to mountain orientation via a treasure hunt, picnic included (+60€)
- 9:30am – 11:30am (and until 1pm for the last optional session)
- 4 children minimum to ensure the start of the course.
Technical level: DISCOVERY
If your child doesn’t ride a bike or mountain bike much, this is a great opportunity to introduce thim/her to a new sport! Accessible thanks to the electric assistance, fun and allowing to reach nice places in a short time. Our instructor will give your child all the advice he needs to get the hang of your bike and quickly become comfortable on it. If you would like you can have a look at our Level Finder to be sure of your level.
Physical level: REGULAR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY / FIT
The session represents a little more than 1H30 on the saddle to pedal. If your child walks regularly or does another physical activity or sport regularly, he or she will have no worries about keeping up. The electric assistance smoothes the physical levels, it helps considerably, however the child remains the activator of the motor. Please don’t hesitate to ask to find out your level!
Not included:
- The Smart Marmotte damage insurance covers against the breakage of an item on the bike during the ride.
- Transport to the starting point.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, it is highly recommended to book in order to make sure the instructor and a bike adapted to your height is available.
The minimum number of participants is set at 3 or 4 depending on the type of course. An accompanied outing cannot take place if the minimum number of people is not reached. You will then be offered a refund or a modification of your reservation.
For everyone’s comfort, we limit our grops to 6,8 or 10 depending on the type of tour and the level. For private groups, please get in touch.
During a group outing, everyone has more fun when the level is the same. We accept kids from age 10 or 1m40 height, as soon as the kid is autonomous and can ride a bike (use the brakes, pedal, turn, stand up on the pedals)
Our groups are composed by level so that everyone has a good time. Don’t hesitate to call us to discuss your level or to consult our level finder so that we can choose the best level together. If the level of the group is too different, we will suggest you to change the group or the schedule in order to ensure the safety and the satisfaction of all.
The price include the instructor guidance, maintenance of the bike, rental of the bike and the protection kit: helmet, gloves, knee abd elbow protections. The tour can include a snack or meal.
As a rule, the starting point is at our office in Chinaillon. However, some outings outside of Grand Bornand may start from another location, in which case the meeting place will be specified on your reservation summary. Thank you for being punctual.
- We take the time to listen to everyone’s expectations, desires and level ideas. Then we adjust the bikes to the body size of each participant.
- A short time to get used to the bike on a road or 4×4 track to discover the bike and the use of the engine.
- Depending on the type and level of the outing, the instructor can give advice or suggest practical exercises to improve, or simply guide you if you wish.
- An animation or a snack/meal can be included on the course.
- Back to the starting point, bike check and debriefing.
Of course. Booking an instructor for a private session will ensure that you perfect your technique more quickly and you will have full choice of your itinerary. More info (private instructor)

Our office is located in Le Chinaillon center, 5 km from Le Grand Bornand Village when driving up to Col de La Colombière. Come and see us to explore your ebike escape possibilities.
Visiting Le Grand Bornand off-season?
Good idea! Spring and fall are marvellous seasons to discovery the Aravis mountains. The trails are less crowded. Our office is open summertime and during weekends only in the spring and fall. The rest of the time, please call us or email us to organise your e-MTB escape.
